A bit about me…

I am recent graduate from UC Davis and I majored in Design and Cinema Digital Media. I have a background in visual graphics and illustrations. I enjoy creating flavorful & friendly designs that bring people joy!

I’m actively learning about brand design and strategies to uphold brand values and goals.

When I’m not designing, I am reading a book, watching a movie, or hibernating with my stuff animals.

Currently reading: Human Acts by Han Kang

What is the logo? It’s a tofu!

My nickname in my family is "cold tofu" because I would get cold very easily due to bad blood circulation. This nickname stuck with me because tofu is one of my favorite foods as it can be found in many forms of dishes. There are many ways to prepare tofu because it's a versatile food that soaks in flavor well.

Like a block of tofu, I want to be a multifaceted designer who absorbs knowledge, trends, and changes to create flavorful designs that are accessible and universal for many people.

(P.S. tofu ice cream is a must-try!)

Design Philosophy

Moving Backward is also Progress
At times, we might run into a dead-end situation. It's essential to take a step back and reflect on our steps to redirect ourselves to a better solution. Even though we are not progressing forward, we are assessing ourselves and taking actions towards improvements.

Be a Listener
As designers, we are designing for the people. And we understand people by listening to their experiences to open room for collaborations and connections. Not only would we be better communicators, but we also know their needs and wants to formulate a framework for design.

Kill Your Darlings
Although it hurts when we take out a design that we grew fond of, it's crucial to stay focused on the overall design goal to ensure that the result is clear and efficient.

Art Background

I used get yelled at by my Mom for drawing on the walls and newspapers, to the point where she got fed up and took me to art classes so I can draw freely and preventing further damage in our home. From a young age, I developed a strong relationship with art and continued to explore different mediums. However, growing up in a traditional Asian household where anything outside of STEM was stereotypically looked down upon made me hesitant in pursuing a career in art, so I had always considered it as a hobby. But to my surprise, my family was super supportive as they understood my love for art and even pushed me to improve as an artist.

Rather than just producing a pretty or eye-pleasing artwork, design has taught me to be more meaningful and genuine in my creations. I am constantly taking inspirations by elements around me, which allowed me to grow as an accepting, empathetic, and open-minded designer. Design broadened my perspective on the world, and I hope that with my knowledge and skills I can achieve positive change in the world.
